Front-End Lead - Wellington

We are currently looking for a people focused Front-End Lead to join a team that is curious, motivated and committed to creating and delivering new things. We have developed a collaborative, learning-first environment. You will be leading a team where people and culture are valued as much as results. In this role, you’ll balance hands-on technical contribution whilst supporting our front-end team. You will create an environment where individuals can do their best work, grow their skills, and feel supported. You will also keep up to speed with our various projects – assisting with scoping, estimation and delivery as well as troubleshooting issues/incidents as required. You will lead our Front-End Community of Practice, regularly facilitating knowledge sharing sessions and showcases with the wider technology teams.

You will be:

• Providing hands-on leadership to our Front-End Team including but not limited to, coaching, mentoring, regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career development.
• Regularly reviewing the Front-End tools and technologies that your team use to ensure currency and feed into the Technology roadmap for prioritising upgrades.
• Keeping across upcoming Front-End related work, and assisting with scoping, estimation, and delivery.
• Working alongside the wider Technology Team to define and deliver the Company’s Product & Technology roadmap.

Do you have:

• The ability to work within Agile development environments, especially Kanban, Scrum and Lean methodologies
• A clear passion for people, design and Front-End development with a track record in delivery
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management and prioritisation skills

Ideally you will also have:

• A positive and growth mindset
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience leading a team of people
• Confidence and experience in mentoring others in Front-End techniques and practices
• Solid design experience in both web and print
• Strong Communication & Stakeholder Management Skills

It would be nice to have experience with:

• Web and Mobile Client Development
• REACT
• Capacitor
• Modern JavaScript Libraries
