Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position offers an exciting opportunity for a qualified Chartered Accountant to join our experienced and high performing Finance team which supports the wider business.

The core focus of this role will be to monitor and account for the day-to-day Client Trust account transactions and to provide payroll banking support to the Finance team. The role is also required to assist the CFO with preparing and maintaining the management and financial accounting records for The Group companies.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Possesses strong accounting skills and is experienced in management and financial reporting (Big-4 experience would be an advantage)
  • Good organisational skills, able to prioritise work to achieve deadlines and has a keen eye for detail and analytical problem solving
  • Has good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and accounting systems (experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central would be an advantage)
  • Has had some exposure or interest in managing property assets and tenants
  • Is a clear and confident communicator both internally and externally
  • Can work with minimal supervision
  • Enjoys being a team player and supporting the wider business

Key accountabilities:

  • Preparing bank reconciliations for the Client Trust Accounts
  • Monitoring the Client Ledger Trial Balances and investigating reconciling items
  • Entering Accounts Payable invoices and ensuring these are paid on time
  • Resolving customer tax related queries and liaising with Inland Revenue
  • Processing IRD tax refunds to our customers
  • Providing back up for the other Finance team members with the daily payroll banking
  • Assisting with the preparation of the month end management accounts for New Zealand and Australia
  • Assisting with the preparation of the GST and FBT returns

Qualifications & skills you will need to be considered:

  • Tertiary accounting qualification
  • Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CAANZ or CPA designation)
  • 4 years minimum accounting experience, including banking and tax filing
  • Extra points for payroll experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
